Past Club meetings

To commemorate World Polio Day and our “Login for Polio fundraiser, our special guest speaker October 24th, 2020 was Past District Governor Jim Jeselnick from District 6540 in northern Indiana. Jim is a polio survivor and he had an amazing story to tell. We raised over $1,200.00 (USD) with that fundraiser!

We had a full house on September 19, 2020, as our club hosted its first official visit from a Governor! Our 2020-21 Governor Noel W Jackson (right) joined us! Thanks for your inspirational words, Governor!

Our September 12th meeting featured Dr. Nick Krayacich discussed the pooled water and sanitation fund that he and his wife, Rotary Foundation Trustee Jennifer Jones, created several years ago.

Our May 2nd meeting featured Past District Governors Jeremy Hurst and Kathryn Heldorfer Fahy who shared the great work HANWASH is doing to bring clean water and sanitation to the people of Haiti. You can watch an archive of that meeting here:

Many thanks to our special guest Saturday, April 18th, Ann Arbor Rotarian [and past club director] Steve Schram, Executive Director and General Manager of Michigan Public Media, overseeing Michigan Radio-WUOM, the NPR news and information public radio station at the University of Michigan. Steve provided a brief overview of the station’s mission, and in particular how important local broadcasters like Michigan Radio are during a time of crisis, like the one we’re currently working through. Our April 11, 2020 guest speaker was Yvette Murray, a Certified instructor of the Mental Health First Aid Basic Certification provided by the Mental Health Commission of Canada. Yvette discussed the importance of keeping a positive attitude during the COVID-19 global pandemic. You can watch a recording of that meeting by clicking here.
